Food safety comes first
The FDA recommends keeping the refrigerator at or below 40°F and the freezer at 0°F. Use an appliance thermometer when possible, move perishable food to a working refrigerator or an ice-filled cooler promptly, and keep the refrigerator doors closed while deciding what to do.
FoodSafety.gov says an unopened refrigerator keeps food cold for about four hours during a power outage. That assumption does not automatically apply to a mechanical failure that may have warmed gradually before anyone noticed.
Its current guidance says to discard perishable food that has been above 40°F for two hours or more. Never taste food to decide whether it is safe. Evaluate items using the federal food-safety chart and, when the time or temperature is unknown, throw questionable food out.

Do not remove the rear cover, evaporator panel, or electrical cover. The visible pattern is more useful than a blind reset.

Move packages away from visible supply and return vents in both compartments. An overfilled shelf can block the cold-air path from freezer to refrigerator.
Remove containers preventing closure, reseat bins, wipe debris from the gasket, and look for a folded or torn seal. Do not force a misaligned door.
Record the refrigerator and freezer temperatures separately. “Freezer cold, refrigerator warm” leads to different tests than both compartments warming together.
Note fan, clicking, buzzing, or compressor sounds and photograph frost or error displays. Samsung warns that unplugging can erase useful error information.
The pattern narrows the system
Several systems must work together to move heat out of the cabinet and cold air through it.
Airflow becomes a major question: blocked vents, an evaporator fan, damper, frost buildup, defrost condition, door sealing, or temperature sensing can keep cold air from reaching the fresh-food compartment.
Power and operating mode still come first. Fans, condenser airflow, start components, controls, compressor performance, and the sealed refrigeration system may then require testing.
Intermittent fans, defrost behavior, icing, sensors, connections, controls, door usage, and changing room conditions can create a failure that disappears during a quick glance.
Frost is evidence
A heavy snow-like buildup on an interior panel, frost concentrated around a door opening, or no frost where cooling should occur can point in different directions.
Do not remove an interior panel to inspect the evaporator yourself. Fans may start unexpectedly, sheet-metal edges can cut, electrical components are exposed, and puncturing refrigerant tubing can turn a repairable problem into major damage.
If you must move food, take clear photos of the compartment, vents, door edges, and visible frost first.
